Ghosts: Has a Ghost Moved in to Your Home?

A friend recently shared that she suddenly and without warning sensed the presence of  a ghost in her place, although there had not been one there before.  I wondered what I’d do if it happened chez moi …
1) Is the ghost a spirit of someone departed? Perhaps someone one knew, or a relative, or an ancestor? Or someone who used to live here?
2) Is the ghost perhaps a bit of one’s subconscious, tugging at one’s sleeve to get one’s attention (this is often the case with nightmares, by the way – your inner self has been screaming, to no avail).
3) Or, is it something else?  If so, what might it be?
Sit with it, as they say at the sangha.  Next, think about:
1) How does the ghost make you feel? Are you frightened, uneasy, at ease, bemused, amused, what?
2) What, if anything, do you think it is trying to tell you?
3) What was going on in your life at the time the ghost made its presence known?  Was there a trauma, transition or change of some kind? Had you changed?  Was the ghost the remnant of the old you? Or, something else entirely? Another way to say it is
4) Why now?
These are mere suggestions to get you to first base.  Your answers will reveal where you go from there, what to do, or if it is necessary to do anything at all.
