  1. My daughter make me watch Vampire diaries (not something I would ever envisage watching despite Ian Somerhalder’s cheeky smile). I must say, I have never realised how much obsession there’s in certain US states with the kinds of stories the Louisiana Tales have to offer. Is it yearning for the connection with the past, the New World versus the Old World dynamic? Perhaps no need to be so deep about it (lol) I think the series will probably take us to the end of the UK lockdown…178 episodes to watch, we’re on number 56!

    • Yikes! But seriously, gret observations! You have touched upon an important thread…I wrote an essay for a course I taught about spirituality and contemporary fiction about the fascination people have had – and really have these days! – with the vampire myth. Witness the popularity of the fairly recent Twilight book series: for sure, people like to fantasise about immortality … hoping your lockdown will come to an end in the near future…it has been such a long one! Best wishes!!
