  1. True story: The towns of Adel and Sparks are near each other in southern Georgia. Locals say that Adel is so close to Hell that one can see Sparks.

    Back in the 1990s, Adel was the site an outlet mall. One of the stores sold a sweater that I imagine someone eventually purchased. It depicted Santa Claus, displeased with his reindeer, outside an outhouse. Santa’s words were, “I said the Schmidt house!”
