Jano, Patty would like to know if you can tell us anything about a haunted doorknob, once owned by Marie Antoinette, obtained by Merle Oberon. Does that ring a bell?

Hi, Lee: No, I’m not familiar with that tale but it sounds intriguing – will be searching! Thanks for mentioning it. What does Patty know about the story? Jan

Hi Jan
I heard the story I believe on the radio many years ago. I did find out that yes, indeed Ms Oberon was a collector of porcelain. The story was that she had acquired this old porcelain doorknob (it might have been from the time of Marie Antoinette, but don’t quote me,) and that at certain times it would radiate a profound coldness.

Hi, Pat: How weird and fascinating! So many stories about objects with strange attributes! I did a cursory search and couldn’t find anything about this – maybe a way to go is to see if anyone has written about Merle’s porcelain collection…. anyway, thanks so much for sharing 🙂
