    • Hi, Linda – I’m so impressed after reading that you shovel all that snow for the neighbor – that is hard work! As to the book giveaway,I do them every so often as a way to thank blog readers, to get my books out there, and hopefully to spur some sales down the road! 🙂

      • Jan – I started doing the snow about three Winters ago. My friend/neighbor Marge who had lived there since 1992 had COPD. She was hospitalized at least 6-8 times/year for a week at a time and had frequent doctor visits. That Winter, her son who lives with her (after going through a divorce about ten years ago) developed gall bladder issues and was in pain and couldn’t shovel. So, I was more worried about Marge getting to the doctor or having to drive herself to the hospital (which she often did) so I started shoveling. When Jeff was better he said he’d mow my lawn all growing season to make up for it. So I was happy – more time for walking and I have electric yard equipment so not always easy to get it mowed, trimmed, whipped in rainy weather. So, this is the third Winter for me shoveling, and third Summer for him mowing. Marge died last August and did not have a will – I’m not sure what will happen to the house. He has a sister but she lives out West in a tented community – she has not contested ownership of the house – YET. I suspect that will happen down the road. I have to admit after 61 inches of snow, I was ready to call it quits and not doing it again. He is younger than me on top of it!

      • I know Jan and some friends have said that maybe it is time to put an end to it after this bad Winter. It was a lot of extra work – the property is 2X, if not 3X more than mine. I was also doing it for the exercise since I sit so much since I work from home. I have a few more months to think about it before the snow flies (at least I hope I do the way this weather has been this Spring … we still had snow in mid-April).

      • I know – we’re outside of Chicago, I had no idea where spring was, but it wasn’t here. 🙂 Coming from the desert, it’s a change. 🙂 Well – exercise is great – but it’s so easy to damage your back shoveling – so be really careful if you keep at it! xo

  3. Creepy idea that something so sacred could be so dangerous, for lack of another word (brain far lol). I’d offer Mrs. Warren every penny of our savings to come help if something like that happened. Good thing I’m not doing my catch up reading during the night. LOL Awesome finds and posts!!
